Woodbridge, VA – Congressman Gerry Connolly and five other elected and party officials endorsed Josh King today for delegate in House District 2.

"Josh King has served our country in Iraq and our local community as a Deputy Sheriff. I am proud to endorse and support his campaign for HD-02 in 2017 as he looks to continue his public service in the House of Delegates." - Congressman Gerry Connolly

House District 2 is the best opportunity in Virginia for Democrats to pick up a seat in the House of Delegates. Josh came within 125 votes of defeating incumbent Delegate Dudenhefer in the 2015 elections despite not entering the race until June and being outspent two to one. Now, with the announcement that Delegate Dudenhefer will not seek re-election, the district has become one of the House’s few open seats. House District 2 also went solidly for Secretary Hillary Clinton this fall and was held by a Democrat during the 2013 cycle.

“I am incredibly excited to start talking with voters across Prince William and Stafford County,” said Josh King. “I plan to spend the next several months talking about improving our schools, shortening our commutes, and most importantly creating jobs. We need to ensure that every child in Virginia has access to a world class education, that we invest in transit and new technology industries, and that we ease our overreliance on the Federal government.”

Senator George Barker, Delegate Luke Torian, and Delegate David Toscano joined Congressman Gerry Connolly in endorsing Josh King today, as did Supervisor Frank Principi and the House Democratic Chair, Delegate Charniele Herring.

“Josh King represents the next generation of leadership in Virginia. I look forward to campaigning alongside Josh in 2017. His dedication to the community is second to none and he’ll serve honorably in the House of Delegates, just as he did in Iraq and as he does as a Deputy Sheriff.” - Delegate Luke Torian
